FENNOR / INSULATION

Keep the warmth.
Respect the building.

Warmer rooms begin with understanding where heat escapes. Fennor helps you choose the next step for your attic, walls or floors, with the building’s condition and your plans in mind.

Home insulation planning — architectural design concept
THOUGHTFULLY PLANNED. BETTER CONNECTED.

MORE COMFORT / A PLAN FOR YOUR HOME

Look beyond
the insulation roll.

Fennor begins with the rooms that lose warmth and the work already done. We explain the relevant roof, wall or floor assessment, then show how its findings affect the insulation options, preparation and finishes in your proposal.

Discuss insulation with Fennor

A warmer home starts above the ceiling.

Fennor brings existing insulation, attic storage and any leaks into the assessment brief. You receive an explanation of the proposed insulation line, access arrangements and necessary repairs before the work is agreed.

  • Roof weather-tightness and timber condition
  • The insulation connection at the wall and attic hatch
  • Required ventilation and ongoing service access

Loft storage and access should not crush insulation or obstruct the designed air paths.

Conceptual visual only. The shapes do not specify a build-up, material, thickness or construction order.

THE SMALL DETAILS / YOUR EVERYDAY COMFORT

Continuity.
Not just coverage.

Insulation must work around windows, roofs and floors as well as across open surfaces. We explain the proposed junction details, including any changes to sills, reveals or finishes, so you can see what the work means for each room.

SEAI: insulation and opening upgrades

Any existing damp?

We bring known leaks, damp patches and defects into the assessment. Their cause needs investigation before insulation closes up the affected area; repairs are explained as part of the work sequence.

A plan for your construction

We identify the assessment appropriate to your solid masonry, cavity walls or timber structure. Traditional fabric may need experienced specialist input before a suitable approach is chosen.

Practical after the finish

We show where service points and roof-space access remain usable in the proposed work. Necessary air paths are retained, so the finished upgrade remains maintainable.

YOUR PROJECT WITH FENNOR

Where you feel the cold.
Where we begin.

We explain the choices, the work involved and what happens next, so you can decide with a clearer picture.

01

Make the attic warmer without losing useful space.

We ask how you use the roof space, then identify the checks needed for existing insulation, ventilation and services. The plan keeps required air paths clear and avoids compressed insulation, whether the space is a cold attic or an occupied room.

02

The right approach for your walls.

We explain cavity, internal or external insulation after the relevant survey establishes suitability. Moisture, exposure and wall condition come first. You also see how the work affects window surrounds, sills, roof edges and external fittings.

03

Make the most of other planned work.

If floors are opening or windows are changing, we bring insulation into the same plan. We explain the effect on floor levels, thresholds and services before you choose finishes, including the cost and disruption of each option.

A SIMPLE START

Tell us about the house.
Bring what you have.

  • 01Where the house feels cold or draughty
  • 02Any damp, leaks or previous insulation work
  • 03Floors, windows or rooms you plan to change

SUPPORT FOR THE WORK YOU HAVE IN MIND

A clearer budget.
The support to explore.

These are the relevant funding options to discuss with Fennor alongside your project. We explain the full price, the support that may apply and the steps before you commit.

Grant support

Attic insulation

Up to €2,000

Standard grants vary by home type. Certain households can receive the enhanced rate below instead.

Conditions & official guidance
Detached
€2,000
Semi-detached / end-terrace
€1,500
Mid-terrace
€1,400
Apartment
€1,100
  • Home built and occupied before 2011; no previous attic grant. The appropriate roof area, ventilation and installation standard must be addressed.
  • The apartment rate depends on eligible exposed roof area. This individual grant is for qualifying attic insulation; it does not turn roof or attic-conversion work into grant-funded work.

Grant support

Enhanced attic insulation

Up to €2,500

Higher attic support for qualifying welfare recipients, eligible HAP/RAS homes and qualifying first-time buyers of existing homes.

Conditions & official guidance
Detached
€2,500
Semi-detached / end-terrace
€1,900
Mid-terrace
€1,800
Apartment
€1,400
  • First-time-buyer eligibility relates to qualifying existing-home purchases from 1 January 2025; evidence is required. Other enhanced routes have their own welfare or tenancy conditions.
  • This replaces the standard attic amount; it is not a second payment. The pre-2011 home and previous-funding rules still apply.

Grant support

Cavity-wall insulation

Up to €1,800

Standard support depends on dwelling type and whether the walls are suitable for a complete cavity-insulation solution.

Conditions & official guidance
Detached
€1,800
Semi-detached / end-terrace
€1,300
Mid-terrace
€850
Apartment
€700
  • Home built and occupied before 2011. Required whole-surface coverage, construction suitability and moisture checks apply.
  • Previous wall support affects the permitted next measure. Traditionally constructed homes are excluded from this individual scheme; we assess suitable non-grant improvement work separately.

Grant support

Enhanced cavity-wall insulation

Up to €2,300

Higher cavity rates for qualifying welfare and eligible HAP/RAS households. First-time-buyer status alone does not establish this entitlement.

Conditions & official guidance
Detached
€2,300
Semi-detached / end-terrace
€1,700
Mid-terrace
€1,100
Apartment
€900
  • This replaces, rather than supplements, the standard cavity grant. Household evidence and the pre-2011 property conditions apply.
  • Your walls must meet the scheme’s technical requirements; this is not funding for unsuitable traditional construction.

Grant support

Internal wall insulation

Up to €4,500

Support towards a qualifying complete internal-wall upgrade, with room space, junctions and moisture considered before the work.

Conditions & official guidance
Detached
€4,500
Semi-detached / end-terrace
€3,500
Mid-terrace
€2,000
Apartment
€1,500
  • Home built and occupied before 2011. Traditionally constructed homes are excluded from this individual wall scheme.
  • A previous cavity grant may permit a subsequent internal upgrade under current rules. Prior internal or external funding changes eligibility; the same measure is not simply funded twice.

Grant support

External wall insulation

Up to €8,000

The largest individual wall-insulation ceiling applies to detached homes, with different rates for other dwelling types.

Conditions & official guidance
Detached
€8,000
Semi-detached / end-terrace
€6,000
Mid-terrace
€3,500
Apartment
€3,000
  • Home built and occupied before 2011. A suitable whole-surface solution and appropriate junction, moisture and ventilation details are required.
  • Previous cavity or internal funding may permit a later external measure; previous external funding does not permit a further wall grant. Traditionally constructed homes are excluded from this individual scheme.

USEFUL ANSWERS

Insulation for your home.
Let’s make it clearer.

Plain language. No pressure to have it all figured out.

01

How will we choose the insulation?

We use the survey findings and your priorities to explain the suitable options. Thickness is only part of it: moisture, continuity, space, compatible materials and installation details matter too.

02

What if I have damp as well as cold walls?

We identify the investigation needed before covering the wall and explain how any repairs fit into the work. Insulation must not conceal an unresolved moisture problem.
