SEAI INDIVIDUAL HEAT-PUMP SUPPORT / CHECKED 12 OCTOBER 2026

Understand the support.
Plan your next step.

Fennor explains the likely assessment route from your property dates and existing heating, then separates conditional grant support from the proposed cost. Dwelling type and eligible works affect the award; SEAI approval is still required before work starts.

ASSESSMENT ROUTE EXPLORER

No personal documents or answers are submitted. This is not a grant application.

First, establish the property dates.

The individual heat-pump grant requires a home built and occupied before 2021 with an MPRN. Fennor reviews the dates and any previous support with you, then explains which assessment route fits the records.

This only explains the assessment evidence route. Ownership, MPRN, previous funding, contractor, approval and other conditions still apply. It does not certify heating suitability.

Fennor explains the result against your available property records and sets out the next assessment or application step. The required specialist or registered role is identified before work is agreed.

ELIGIBLE HOUSE / AIR-TO-WATER BUNDLE

Up to €14,500.
With conditions.

Fennor works through the separate components against your existing heating and the work proposed. For an eligible apartment, the maximum is €11,500: up to €8,500 for the system, €1,000 for necessary central-heating upgrades and €2,000 qualifying scrappage.

  1. €10,500

    Heat-pump system

Up to this amount for the eligible house route. This is not the replacement heat-pump allowance.

  2. €2,000

    Central-heating work

Up to this amount where eligible new radiators or underfloor heating are needed for the heat pump—not an automatic addition.

  3. €2,000

    Scrappage component

For replacing eligible oil/gas, solid-fuel or electric heating rated at 100% efficiency or less with a heat pump. Homes without central heating may also qualify.

The maximum is not an automatic deduction.

We separate the installed price from the support you may receive, including which components apply. Approval must precede work, the grant cannot exceed eligible costs, and the required documents and offer deadline still apply.

Already have a heat pump? The replacement limit is €6,500 for a house or €4,500 for an apartment, without the central-heating or scrappage additions. The existing system must not have received an SEAI domestic grant. A manufacturer or installer warranty covering any replacement cost at application makes it ineligible; losing that cover through missed servicing or other breaches does not remove the exclusion. Fennor reviews that history with you before including support in the budget.

If you are planning several improvements, we connect the heating design with the agreed fabric and ventilation work. Each individual grant keeps its own approval, eligible-cost and registered-contractor conditions, and we show who is responsible before you proceed.

YOUR PROJECT WITH FENNOR

Heat-pump grants, explained.
Alongside the work you need.

We explain the choices, the work involved and what happens next, so you can decide with a clearer picture.

01

Here is what the headline includes.

SEAI lists up to €10,500 for an eligible air-to-water heat-pump system, up to €2,000 for qualifying central-heating changes and €2,000 for eligible boiler scrappage. The maximum combined house figure is €14,500; apartment and replacement-system rules differ. We explain which elements relate to your planned work.

02

You see the cost and support separately.

We review the existing heating and previous grants, then explain the costs and possible support line by line. Heating changes and scrappage have separate conditions, support cannot exceed eligible work costs, and replacement heat pumps have different limits.

03

We explain the approval steps.

The individual scheme requires an MPRN and a home built and occupied before 2021. We clarify the assessment or self-declaration requirement, appointed contractor’s relevant registration and application tasks. Approval is required before work; the SEAI offer determines your award.

Grant support

Air-to-air heat-pump support

Up to €9,500

A separate maximum applies to eligible air-to-air heating. These systems do not provide your domestic hot water.

Conditions & official guidance
  • SEAI lists this maximum for houses and apartments, subject to the proposed system and component eligibility.
  • The pre-2021 home, assessment-evidence, registered-contractor and approval conditions still apply. This is an alternative system route, not an addition to the €14,500 bundle.

Grant support

Replacing an existing heat pump

Up to €6,500

Eligible replacement systems have a lower ceiling: up to €6,500 for a house or €4,500 for an apartment.

Conditions & official guidance
  • The existing system must not have received an SEAI domestic grant. Replacement covered wholly or partly by a manufacturer or installer warranty is excluded, including cover lost through the applicant’s failure to meet its terms.
  • No central-heating or scrappage additions apply to this replacement route. We check your existing system and records before including support in the budget.

Grant support

Heat-pump technical assessment

€200

Support towards the qualifying technical assessment, linked to a heat-pump grant application—not a standalone free survey.

Conditions & official guidance
  • For a pre-2007 home, a technical assessment is required unless a valid BER confirms a heat-loss indicator of 2.3 W/(K·m²) or lower.
  • Homes from 2007 onwards, and qualifying older homes, can use the self-declaration route. The evidence route does not replace heating-system design.

Grant support

Heating controls

€700

Support to improve control of an existing heating system. A separate €50 contribution towards the required post-works BER may also apply.

Conditions & official guidance
  • Home built and occupied before 2011, with a valid MPRN. Approval must precede work and the eligible controls upgrade must be completed by a contractor registered with SEAI for this measure.
  • Not available if you are applying for, or have already received, a heat-pump-system grant. Fennor confirms the registered delivery role before presenting this support as part of your proposal.

Grant support

Post-works BER support

€50 standard support

A contribution towards the required post-works BER for applicable individual-grant upgrades. Qualifying welfare applicants may receive €280 instead.

Conditions & official guidance
  • Support is tied to the eligible grant works and required assessment; it is not a general payment for obtaining any BER.
  • The enhanced €280 route has separate welfare and application conditions. We explain the assessment cost and which support applies without adding both rates.

USEFUL ANSWERS

Heat-pump funding.
Where your home fits.

Plain language. No pressure to have it all figured out.

01

Would my project receive the full €14,500?

Not automatically. €14,500 is the combined maximum for eligible house projects meeting every component’s conditions. We explain the elements relevant to your home; the dwelling, existing system, eligible costs and SEAI offer determine the actual support.

02

Can the heat-pump grant be planned with other improvements?

Yes. We can connect the heating design with planned insulation, windows or ventilation and explain the relevant individual grants. Each measure keeps its own approval and registered-contractor conditions, and the same cost cannot be claimed twice.
