Heat pumps & heating

Heat-pump system for your home

Up to €14,500

The eligible house maximum includes the system, necessary heating upgrades and qualifying scrappage. It is not a flat payment for every installation.

Conditions & official guidance
Heat-pump system — house
Up to €10,500
Necessary central-heating upgrades — house
Up to €2,000
Qualifying scrappage
€2,000
Combined apartment maximum
Up to €11,500
  • Home built and occupied before 2021, with an MPRN. Applies to eligible air-to-water, ground-source, exhaust-air-to-water and water-to-water systems; air-to-air has a different ceiling.
  • Scrappage covers qualifying oil, gas, solid-fuel or electric-storage heating replacement; SEAI also includes eligible homes without central heating. The installation design determines each component.
  • Grant approval must precede work. Payment cannot exceed eligible cost; a post-works BER and completion documents are required. Existing-heat-pump replacement follows a separate route.

Heat pumps & heating

Air-to-air heat-pump support

Up to €9,500

A separate maximum applies to eligible air-to-air heating. These systems do not provide your domestic hot water.

Conditions & official guidance
  • SEAI lists this maximum for houses and apartments, subject to the proposed system and component eligibility.
  • The pre-2021 home, assessment-evidence, registered-contractor and approval conditions still apply. This is an alternative system route, not an addition to the €14,500 bundle.

Heat pumps & heating

Replacing an existing heat pump

Up to €6,500

Eligible replacement systems have a lower ceiling: up to €6,500 for a house or €4,500 for an apartment.

Conditions & official guidance
  • The existing system must not have received an SEAI domestic grant. Replacement covered wholly or partly by a manufacturer or installer warranty is excluded, including cover lost through the applicant’s failure to meet its terms.
  • No central-heating or scrappage additions apply to this replacement route. We check your existing system and records before including support in the budget.

Heat pumps & heating

Heat-pump technical assessment

€200

Support towards the qualifying technical assessment, linked to a heat-pump grant application—not a standalone free survey.

Conditions & official guidance
  • For a pre-2007 home, a technical assessment is required unless a valid BER confirms a heat-loss indicator of 2.3 W/(K·m²) or lower.
  • Homes from 2007 onwards, and qualifying older homes, can use the self-declaration route. The evidence route does not replace heating-system design.

Solar & batteries

Standard home solar PV

Up to €1,800

Support is based on the installed panel capacity. With a separately eligible €600 battery grant, the combined standard maximum is €2,400.

Conditions & official guidance
First 2 kWp
€700 per kWp
Additional capacity up to 4 kWp
€200 per kWp
  • Home built and occupied before 2025, with an MPRN and no previous solar-PV funding at that MPRN.
  • Wait for the offer before installation; use the registered company named in it and complete the required post-works BER and paperwork within the offer period.

Solar & batteries

Home battery storage

€600

Flat-rate support for an eligible battery of at least 5 kWh. A larger battery does not increase this grant.

Conditions & official guidance
  • Home built and occupied before 2025, with an MPRN and no previous battery funding at that MPRN. A battery can be installed with or without solar.
  • Approval is needed before installation by an SEAI-registered solar-PV contractor. A post-works BER is required where solar PV is present; the works and documents must meet the eight-month offer period.

Solar & batteries

Enhanced household solar support

Up to €9,000

  • Available to homeowners receiving specified qualifying welfare payments, subject to SEAI evidence and scheme conditions.
  • A separate Dublin RAS pilot requires a qualifying long-term tenancy and confirmation from one of the four Dublin local authorities. It is not a grant for every landlord or household.

Electrical & energy efficiency

Home EV charger

Up to €300

Separate support towards an eligible smart home charger and its installation—not towards the car or the solar panels.

Conditions & official guidance
  • Apply and receive the grant offer before purchasing or starting installation. The charger must be on SEAI’s eligible list and installed by a Registered Electrical Contractor. Complete the installation and submit the claim within six months of the offer.
  • Property, parking/planning, MPRN and previous-funding conditions apply; approved charger-arm arrangements have specific requirements. You do not need to own an EV when applying.

Semi-detached / end-terrace
€3,000
Mid-terrace

Post-works BER support

€50 standard support

A contribution towards the required post-works BER for applicable individual-grant upgrades. Qualifying welfare applicants may receive €280 instead.

Conditions & official guidance
  • Support is tied to the eligible grant works and required assessment; it is not a general payment for obtaining any BER.
  • The enhanced €280 route has separate welfare and application conditions. We explain the assessment cost and which support applies without adding both rates.

Heating controls

€700

Support to improve control of an existing heating system. A separate €50 contribution towards the required post-works BER may also apply.

Conditions & official guidance
  • Home built and occupied before 2011, with a valid MPRN. Approval must precede work and the eligible controls upgrade must be completed by a contractor registered with SEAI for this measure.
  • Not available if you are applying for, or have already received, a heat-pump-system grant. Fennor confirms the registered delivery role before presenting this support as part of your proposal.

Business Energy Upgrades — heat pumps

Up to 45%

A separate business heating route, with support up to €270,000 depending on the building and technical choices.

Conditions & official guidance
  • The eligible heat pump must replace existing fossil-fuel heating. The technology, building, calculated award and state-aid rules determine support; it is not a household heat-pump grant.
  • This route is distinct from SSRH and must not be added to it for the same work. Receive the grant offer before work and agree the correct application route before purchasing or starting.

Renewable heat for a business — SSRH

Up to 40%

Support for eligible non-domestic heat-pump investment; SEAI describes project support up to €1 million, subject to the scheme’s calculation and limits.

Conditions & official guidance
  • Qualifying non-domestic heat demand, displacement of fossil-fuel heating, technical requirements and state-aid conditions apply.
  • Related efficiency measures have a separate 30% rate; this does not make a 70% grant on the same cost. Do not add SSRH to the BEUS route for the same investment.
  • Discuss the application before spending. A narrow early-expenditure provision requires written SEAI confirmation of a screened valid application and remains at the applicant’s risk until an offer.

Up to 30% · max €25,000

SEAI support for qualifying air-handling-unit replacement, heat recovery or high-efficiency fan upgrades in a building with an existing supply-and-extract system.

Conditions & official guidance
  • The eligible amount depends on building type, size and technical selections. A general fan service or like-for-like repair does not qualify automatically.
  • For the fan-only route, the existing plant must use qualifying belt-driven centrifugal fans; the replacement needs compliant EC fans with integral variable-speed drives and controls.

  • From 11 October 2026, the route is open to eligible Irish public and private enterprises consuming less than 2.8 GWh (10 TJ) a year across heat, electricity and transport. Other scheme conditions still apply.
  • Current applicant guidance also requires at least €10,000 annual energy expenditure at the facility, excluding transport. Choose a participating SEAI Registered Energy Auditor before applying.

Planning a new home?

Different eligibility rules

Existing-home energy grants are not a general subsidy for a new build. Each scheme has its own built-and-occupied cutoff.

What this means for your project
  • The individual heat-pump scheme requires a pre-2021 home; PV and battery routes currently require a pre-2025 home. A new house does not meet those conditions.
  • Specific disability-related adaptations have their own rules, including a lower maximum for recently built homes. We check the project rather than carrying over an existing-home headline.

Solar & batteries

EDDI & backup-switch additions

No separate listed grant

The current individual-grant list does not list a dedicated EDDI diverter or changeover-switch grant. We price these additions separately.

What this means for your project
  • Solar PV, eligible batteries and EV chargers have their own schemes; those grant amounts should not be described as funding for every accessory.
  • A solar-thermal grant is for a different hot-water technology, not an EDDI. Backup operation needs compatible equipment and a safe electrical design.

YOUR PLANS / THE SUPPORT THAT MAY FIT

Grant questions?
Talk them through with Fennor.

  1. Start with your plans

A warmer home, solar panels or lower business running costs: tell us what you want to achieve. We identify the relevant funding routes and explain what information is needed to check your eligibility.

  2. Understand your budget

We show you the proposed project cost, the support that may apply and when you would need to make payments. You can see what depends on approval before deciding what is affordable.

  3. Know when work can begin

We explain which approvals must be in place before purchases or work can begin, and who will handle each part of the application. Grant-dependent work is planned around those requirements.

  4. Know what comes next

Before work starts, we set out the relevant completion deadline, documents you will need and the agreed help with the claim. You know what you will receive and whether there is anything you need to send yourself.

Discuss your project and grant questions

Scheme administrators determine eligibility and awards. Official rules and your written offer take precedence. Figures here are a dated guide; the current terms need confirmation for your application.

Plain language. No pressure to have it all figured out.

01

How current is this guidance?

This guide was checked against official sources on 14 October 2026 and does not update automatically. We help explain the route, but current official terms and your written offer determine your project’s support.

02

Can the work start as soon as a grant is announced?

Not automatically. We explain the application and approval steps for your chosen route, including restrictions on purchases. The required approval must be in place before work begins.
